QAA Highlights, February 2012

Congratulations to the QAA Junior and Senior Band!

On Friday, February 24th, the Queen of Angels Junior Band and Senior Band traveled to Ottawa to compete in the Capital Region Music Festival.  After two excellent performances, both groups were awarded a Silver medal standing.  The judges were particularly impressed with the comportment and stage presence of our young ladies, and applauded the enormous potential they could see in these two groups of musicians.  The students celebrated with dinner and shopping at the nearby Bayshore Centre, a wonderful Symphony Concert at the National Arts Centre, and a fun-filled stay at the Lord Elgin Hotel.  It was a fantastic experience for everyone!

“On a Roll” List

The Academy has a great deal to celebrate this week, of February 20, as students have once again proven that girls rule! Congratulations to the bantam and midget badminton teams, which won all 16 of their tournament matches; to the swim team, which picked up numerous medals at their swim meet; to the junior and senior bands, which came home with two silver medals from the Ottawa Regional Music Festival; and to the hockey team, which is advancing to the championship game Thursday. You ladies have left us all speechless; well done!

Mad Science!

On Sunday, February 5, students from Secondary 2 and 4 participated in the Academy’s Annual Science Fair. Ms. Pamboukian would like to thank her ingenious science department, the QAA Parents Association, the Foundation and administration for helping to make this yet another successful event. Congratulations to everyone involved and good luck to winners continuing on into the next rounds of competition.

Parental “Surprise”-ory!

A very big thank you goes out to our truly amazing Parents Association and Student Council who made everyone feel extremely special last week, during our annual Staff Appreciation celebrations. Countless letters, treats and surprises were definitely enjoyed and taken to heart. Winter Carnival kicks off Thursday February 9th with opening ceremonies at Loyola High School.  Mountain Day, and the junior and senior dances take place on Friday and Saturday respectively. Have fun and be safe!
